Under the Fig Tree

The Maasai tribe places a great amount of cultural pressure on women, effectively limiting them to a life of subjugation. From a very early age, girls are taught by their mothers how to take care of their husband's family, manage the household, and tend the cattle, as well as the notion that if they look back on their pre-marriage life, they will never be able to reach their desired destination.
